One Dennis the Menace is bad enough, but TWO?!

For those unaware of him, Dennis Mitchell (the boy on the left), is the star of the comic strip entitled "Dennis the Menace" in the US. He first appeared in print, created by Hank Ketcham, on March 1951. He causes a little bit of trouble on occasion, almost solely by accident though, and ends up getting on a few adults nerves occasionally (and George Wilson's nerves A LOT!). :D The girl on his right is Gina Gillotti, Dennis' best friend, and if they were older, he would quite probably consider her his girlfriend; they're into all the same stuff, and Gina amazes Dennis by not being afraid of bugs or getting dirty.

On the other hand, if you're from America you'll probably have heard of him, but not of the other Dennis the Menace (big dark-haired boy, far right). He hails from Beanotown, the fictional hometown of the British comic "The Beano" (and although the town is very English, the Beano is actually Scottish owned). His first comic was dated March 15 1951, so naturally, there's a bit of rivalry between fans of the two identically named characters.
Our Dennis (I'm British after all, and a long-time Beano fan to boot! :D) is older, bigger, tougher, and meaner - he has the title "Menace" because he's earnt it; he sets out to cause mayhem, pull pranks on anyone and everyone in sight, and especially to pick on Walter the Softy and his fellow "Soft" friends. He views being soft as something of a crime, and takes pleasure in making their lives misery (though this has toned down considerably since the mid-90s). The girl on the far left is Minnie the Minx, kind of his female counterpart and sometimes-friendly rival. She's not exactly like Dennis, being more mischievous than outright mean....most of the time. :evillaugh:

There have been arguments as to which Dennis is "better" - well surely that depends on what criteria you use to define the word "better"? So I say, why couldn't they be friends?

This was drawn very expertly for me by :iconkeevs: ~keevs, she does rather excellent artwork I think. Thank you Keevs! :glomp:

Cool work on all of them , I was reading one of your other comments and I remember liking the 90's dennis meance series. Have you seen the beano superstars videos/comic they more faithful to the the comic and adopt quite a few of the comic stories.
