My Little Tickles by Yet-One-More-Idiot My Little Tickles by Yet-One-More-Idiot
I had this idea for a cute picture aaaaages ago, but I waited til Christmas had gone by 'cos I try not to swamp artists with too many commishes over Christmas break. :)

Commissioned from :iconarabatos-workshop:.

My Little Pony was one of those many, many Saturday morning cartoons I used to watch when I was growing up (Why? 'cos my sister was only a year old than me, so we had to share TV time), and it was just so much fun!*

Megan (the eldest) was the ponies' best friend, and keeper of their magic Rainbow of Light (in that locket she's wearing). Molly and Danny (no prizes for guessing which is which) were her younger siblings.

But why commission it? I re-watched the film recently and near the end, the kids and the ponies escape from a giant spider-monster-thingy by tickling it until it (and its web) fall down). That gave me this sugary-sweet idea for a pic. :D

*The modern redesigns suck imho, btw...

My Little Pony and characters etc are Hasbro.
This artwork :iconarabatos-workshop:. :D

I like these kids from G1 MLP... They look useless, but they can also be very helpful, when it's hard time...

Oh yes, they were surprisingly adept at coping with all sorts of weird and magical goings-on in Ponyland and beyond, considering they were just 3 normal human kids. :) I liked them too, Megan and Molly especially were quite cute. :D

I also like Danny, he's some sort of first Brony in 80's :D But mostly I like the ponies, they were really adorable...

Thanks, but just to be clear I don't actually draw anything. I just pay artists to draw for me instead. ;)

At times it bugged me that Megan was always there to do what the ponies should've been doing, but Megan wasa  very responsable character and she was very brave. Maybe not the strongest, but she definetely demonstrated to be worthy to wield the Rainbow of Light.
Danny and Molly were additions to the show that bothered me at times, because sometimes they could get annoying, but when they interacted with each other in the classic brother-sister clash, it was very entertaining.

Amazing pic, btw

Yeah, Megan was clearly the leader of the ponies - look at them in the very first special, none of the ponies ever takes charge there, they immediately go to the idea of going in search of someone to help lead them. In later installments, a few of the ponies do show some limited leadership abilities, but are mostly ignored by the others in favour of having fun. The most frequent attempts by a pony to try to lead the other ponies would be Wind Whistler, I'd say, and maybe North Star and Galaxy. Even the Princess Ponies, who are basically *born* to lead, can't get anything done on their own until Megan shows up to help! xD

And yes, Danny and Molly didn't really do so much in the stories a lot of the time, but their brother-sister rivalry was quite entertaining and very realistic! As for when I commissioned this scene, I had the idea originally and just thought it was so cute and so...natural. It's just the kind of thing that Megan might do to distract her younger siblings from a potential fight they might have been about to have. Or maybe she just wanted to have a little fun. :P

Well, the Princess Ponies were leading for a while. The thing was that they didn't know who was the most worthy one to lead the rest. The entire plot is about that, aside from the villain doing bad things, in this case, Lavan, one of the funniest bad guys ever.

And yeah, this is a very sibling-thing to do. It's just sibling love, one of the strongest forms of love there is.

Oh yeah, Danny was always running around with his sneakers untied. I don't get how leaving your shoelaces untied so you can trip over them and fall flat on your face is a "fashion choice". :P

Ahh, a lot of people who enjoy FiM have never seen the earlier shows. Personally, I recommend them - they were good, well-plotted, the artwork was more painting-like...it maybe a bit of a case of nostalgia for me though. If you're interested in comparing the original G1 series to the current show, you could almost certainly find some episodes on Youtube. :)

And also, The Complete Series of the Original G1 Series (not Tales though) is in a DVD Boxset now for $30 (can't tell if anything's been cut though due to me not remembering the series for when I was a kid)

Yes of course, but I didn't suggest buying the episodes on DVD because not everyone can afford to just go and buy DVDs all the time. ;) I have every generation of MLP on DVD - G1 (including the movie and the 2 specials before the movie), Tales, the G3 movies and Twinkle Wish Adventure (which was G3.5), FiM and Equestria Girls. :)

Assuming that the new release of the G1 eps on DVD is the same as the version I bought (up to different artwork on the cover), then yes, the episoeds are all complete. EXCEPT for the second-ever special, Escape from Catrina, which had one of its songs cut from repeat airings, which was unfortunately later lost and so has never appeared on any video or DVD release of it. The song was sung between Catrina and her lackey, Rep, reminiscing about the good old days before Catrina became hooked on the Witch Weed potion.

Meh, While I don't mind songs in my cartoons, too much can be a issue for me (strangely, I'm not like that with Equestria Girls or Frozen :p)

Nah, Hasbro and the team in charge of the modern cartoon series said originally that they don't want to bring back those characters. Although all the mane 6 are expies of 80s ponies, and now they've brought back Tirek/Tirac  too, so I don't see why they couldn't...

Well, it's a good thing though, the human kids would'nt have a purpose in the modern show (i have to say they annoy me).
I swear if i see a character that has no developed personality in the show i would direclty shoot him in the head.

I haven't actually watched the finale fully yet. Got it downloaded, haven't had time today. :)

I suppose that Megan could've gotten a brief cameo appearance in the background in the Equestria Girls movie? But yeah, unless they have a plot relevant reason for bringing in Megan, Danny and Molly, I wouldn't be in favour of it. Maybe the ponies from Equestria could travel to distant lands and find the actual location of the ancient myth of Dream Valley, and have them learn about how Dream Valley is the ancestral home of the pony race, long even before Celestia and Luna and Discord and all the rest of Equestria? They could have them learning about G1 - which to them would basically be pony prehistory - in the form of flashbacks, entries from ancient preserved journals, that kind of thing. xD

Why? Just because he's a boy? I thought "brony" was a gender-neutral term now...

When you consider that Megan is just about old enough to be considered "outside" the target demographic of "little girls", she would qualify as the first brony, right?

Just my thoughts on the matter. XD

Cool. I always loved the '80s My Little Pony. I even watched the movie and other videos with my two sisters. My sisters also used to collect those '80s My Little Pony toys. And Megan has always been one of my favorite characters, and her siblings are awesome, too. ^.^

Awesome! There's a lot of original-MLP fans around, it was a great show in its day. And I'm not sure why people make so much fuss about guys liking FiM, when there were boys like me who enjoyed the first cartoon series. :D

Yes, the old series is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Friendship is Magic. I mean, the new series is just a very childish and flat style, while the old series has a very nicely detailed and attractive style. It just annoys me how such people obsess about the new series way too much, and worse that new series left out Megan and her siblings and every other human being. And I hate it when such artists like to draw non-MLP characters (such as Scooby-Doo, Mario, and Sonic) as ponies based on that new series. The old series had its fans handle their fandoms with respect. For me, the old series is just the way to go to if I want to be a fan of anything. People need to respect the fact that we grew up with classics.

Ah, no, I wasn't saying that "Friendship is Magic" isn't also a great series. I happen to love FiM. It's a different series, with a different style, but it's still just as good. And I completely understand why they left out Megan, Danny and Molly - human characters just wouldn't have fit in with the new show. It's all about characters who are learning to run their own lives and be better people/ponies. :)

And what's wrong with drawing non-pony character as ponies? That just shows that they like both programs, it's not disrespectful or anything. :)

There are some overly-zealous fans of the new series who dislike the original MLP because it had a different style, but haven't ever actually watched it. I'd say that's wrong. But at the end of the day, it's also their choice, so I just grit my teeth and ignore their negative comments. Because I do like both series. Heck, I even really enjoyed My Little Pony Tales and the G3/G3.5 movies. :D

In short...it's all good. ;)
