My final picture to upload (just for the moment), and then I'll be caught up with the backlogue of all my commissioned pictures. ^_^

I commissioned this excellent picture from :iconarabatos: ~arabatos about a month ago, (along with a few others which I've already posted up here), because I wanted an image related to the Gaia Trilogy of Super NES video-games that I could also get printed off and use it as a kick-ass poster on my bedroom wall. ~arabatos delivers.

This pic is seriously dramatic and made of awesomesauce and WIN! and all the characters look properly in the mood (well, Lisa on the far left looks more angry than just determined and ready to fight, but that works). Kara is smiling happily, but she was always a little bit blasé about dire situations, to be honest. :)

From left to right; the cast of this poster-ific pic are:
  • Lisa, the "love interest" from Soul Blazer.
  • Will, the hero of Illusion of Gaia, and a descendant of the Dark Knights.
  • Princess Elle, the heroine of Terranigma, and Ark's girlfriend in the end. She can be quite dangerous when she really needs to be... :evillaugh: Also known in Europe as Princess Melina. She's also Princess of France and adopted daughter of King Henri XIII.
  • Ark, the hero of Terranigma.
  • Princess Kara, Will's girlfriend in Illusion of Gaia and ends up taking the lead in the group as they travel the world together. She's also a descendant of the Light Knights, and Princess of Edward Kingdom (daughter of King Edward and Queen Edwina).
  • Blazer, the warrior sent from Heaven by the Master to save the world in Soul Blazer.
There is, seriously, not one thing about this picture that I don't love. I love and +fav and hug this picture sooooo much, thanks to ~arabatos! :glomp:

All characters and games mentioned above are © Quintet, Square Enix, and Nintendo.

I could nitpick over some of the colors, but the pic is just so epic anyways.

Yeah I know, I've had a few small complains before, especially about Kara's non-black hair. ;)

Thanks for the comment though. :D

They just don't make classics like these anymore.

Which is a massive shame. Ah well, I can keep enjoying them on my ZSNES emulator, even if RPGs like these don't get made anymore.

Who knows, maybe someday they'll make a comeback, and get retooled or at least a basic re-release on the Wii or WiiU. A full upgrade to use the full functionality of the Wii would be awesome. :D

I wish, but since Quintet is no longer considered a "company" by definition, that will never happen. I don't want to sound like a nostalgia fool, but the SNES era really was the most innovative gaming development time.

Yeah, that's sad that Quintet simply vanished into the ether. Do they still hold the copyrights on these games? Maybe someone else could buy the rights to the games, redo them for modern console systems/gamers, and make a fortune with some awesome old-school RPGs brought bang up to date! ;)

Here's some information about them from Hardcore Gaming 101. I didn't even know Granstream Saga was part of the Soul Blazer series, but neither did most people probably:

"With its immensely enjoyable combat system, excellently executed story, and very strong presentation, Granstream Saga is easily Quintet's finest work. Where Quintet/Shade have gone now, I'm not sure. Yokota's last few games were the ancient PS2 RPG Orphen, and one of the Bouken Ou Beat games in 2005. Quintet hasn't really seen any activity lately either, with their last official release being Godzilla Generations on the Dreamcast, and their website hasn't been updated in years. Perhaps one day, the Soul Blazer series may continue, but the outlook is not very good."
