Wendy and...Wendy by Yet-One-More-Idiot Wendy and...Wendy by Yet-One-More-Idiot
I love the story of Peter Pan for so many reasons, and this picture shows one of the main reasons - twice! :D They look just sooooo cute, all snuggled up together on the beach, don't they? :aww: D'aww! :iconikissuplz:

I have no doubt that most people who've ever seen a Disney film will be able to recognise that the girl on the left is Wendy Darling, from the 1953 classic Disney film of Peter Pan.

On the right, however, she is cuddling up with....Wendy Darling. This is the way that Wendy was depicted in the 1990 series made by FOX, called "Fox's Peter Pan and the Pirates". It was a really great show, with excellent portrayals of all the characters, and it made all the pirates much more three dimensional (where most other versions only use Hook and Smee, and the rest are just so many faceless goons), and could arguably be one of the better adaptations of Barrie's original works.

If you like Peter Pan at all, go search out eps of Peter Pan and the Pirates on Youtube or something, I guarantee that you'll love it!*

The characters of Wendy Darling, Peter Pan, et al; created by J.M.Barrie and © Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Well, I don't actually do the drawing, but yeah, I did pick the pose for the girls in the pic. Sorry, bare feet were more an added bonus to the pic than the main feet-ure. ;P

Hmm, really? You might be right, the pink dress kinda does make Fox's Wendy look girlier, but on the whole I'd say Disney's Wendy is the one who behaves more girly. She's attracted to Peter more, and is openly jealous of Tinkerbell and Tiger Lily, while in the Fox cartoon, Wendy is a little (very little) bit more of a tomboy, joining in with adventures as much as anyone else. :)

To each their own though. :D

ya your so right but i was looking on to more on how the were designed. also if they wanted Wendy to be more tomboy or girly the should at lease make them look that way I mean pink dress and a flower band for a more tomboy Wendy doesn't make sense to me

Wait, they are both the same person (just from different versions of the cartoon) so how can they meet each other? Multiple universe paradox?

Why shouldn't two versions of Peter Pan crossover with each other, allowing their versions of Wendy to meet? :) There isn't really a reason, other than I thought it was cute. :D

No, you're really not, there's a bunch of people on this site who've got PPandP fanart. It was a really great show, too bad Disney own it now.
On a related note, have you ever watched the Japanime series "Peter Pan no Boken"? :)

I didn't draw it, just commissioned this awesomeness, but thanks for the love anyway.

That's not shocking, I saw Fox's Peter Pan when I was about 10 (in '91/92 or so), but I didn't see Disney's until much later (in fact, not until AFTER I'd seen the Disney *sequel*, Return to Neverland, at the cinema in 2002...! :D)

I didn't realize when I first watched as a kid, but when I got into the show around 2003 there was a lot of love for him at the internet community where I lurked, and frankly, I can see why. He's a really fascinating character because by all rights, he's t he age where technically he should be a Lost Boy.. but he's a pirate... Plus there's a lot of potential with the more obscure parts of his character, like the depth of his relationship with Mullins or how he came to be shipwrecked. Plus, he's cute :D

Yes....there's a fairly common theory that Billy Jukes is actually a former Lost Boy, but that Peter kicked him out years ago for failing to stay young (or for dreaming of/wanting to grow up, I forget which). :)
I'll take your word for it that he's cute. ;)

there's some episodes on YouTube (last I checked) that you can watch and judge for yourself. If you can find it, I recommend the episode "Billy Jukes, Lost Boy" so you can get a sense of his character and the history the show suggests for him. :)

I already have the full series on DVD actually. :boogie:
The idea that Jukes is an ex-Lost Boy from long before Peter found the current gang is an old idea, and does have some merit to it. Obviously none of the current lot would know him (Tink is supposedly not that old herself), and Peter's forgetfulness is legendary anyway; he would harbour strong resentments for being kicked out by Peter; it would also explain him being so much younger than the other pirates, and his strong sense of needing to prove himself to Hook.
[/mini-essay] :P

Haha, lucky :P I was rewatching episodes in the summer but life picked up again :p I'll get back to them soon when school isn't such a chore.

Mind you, that idea would be exclusive to the cartoon, because in the actual novel Billy Jukes is quite different... giant and tattooed, for one thing :p
But it would be a lot of fun to explore, nonetheless... for example, if he were a Lost Boy and got evicted from Neverland, how could he return while still at a young age? Plus imagine if the crew ever found out...

There was an incredible fanfiction about him that suggested he was Roma and how he came to be aboard the ship that cast him away.. it was by Dendraica, but it's not all posted on the web anymore since her original domain went down. I asked awhile ago if she'd repost it but life is busy ^^;

Heh heh, yeah. :) Maybe the two Hooks would stand a better chance of winning if they switched and went after each others' versions of Peter? :)

And 2 Tinker Bells, both jealous of Wendy and Peter's closeness. Imagine how much scheming they could do. ;)

2 Tiger Lilys? Hmm, they're also quite different in personality actually....Disney's Tiger Lily is interested in Peter, but Fox's does not appear to be (and is also pretty good friends with Wendy in the episodes where they meet).

Well, I don't draw anything remember, but to be honest no, although also I had mostly forgotten about her until I rewatched all the episodes. She didn't capture my attention so well, I felt that she was a little 2-dimensional, character-wise.

Actually, there is a Wendy/Tigerlily one in here somewhere, but I agree, the rivalry between Tink and Wendy - while they both remain good friends with Peter - is part of the drive of the story. :D

The girl in the moon was a little odd - she would easily be friends with anyone who was nice to her, regardless of whether they were a nice person generally.
Peter is the good guy and Hook is a villain, and she knew this, but when Hook was acting all nice to her, she was more friendly with him than with Peter, who was trying to save her. I suppose that's why I had trouble liking her.

I see what you mean, I can't remember Smee very well, except I know, yeap, Fox's Smee is the stubborn one.

You can also know when the crocodile from both universe is different, Disney's a male and Fox's a female.
